Who we are

Upton Community Care (UCC) is a charitable organisation providing transport to medical appointments for those with no other means to get there.

We offer this service primarily to elderly or infirm residents from Upton-Upon-Severn & the surrounding villages (eg Welland, Hanley, Ripple, Ryall etc).

Upton Doctors
Where we can take you

Most of our trips are to hospitals & doctors but we can also help with visits to the dentist & opticians.

Most appointments tend to be in the local area but on rare occasions we are asked to take customers as far as Bristol & Birmingham.

Alexandra Hospital
How does the service work?

Contact our office team, providing details of your appointment. If you are new to UCC, we will register you on our system. Our team will then find a suitable driver who can help with transport. We will then contact you to confirm the arrangements. At the date & time agreed, the driver will collect you from home, take you to your appointment, & then back home.

Please give us as much notice as you can, as finding a driver at very short notice might not be possible.

“Unfortunately, I can’t drive & have nobody else to take me to my doctor’s appointments, so the transport provided by Upton Community Care is invaluable”
Mrs B. Upton-Upon-Severn.

Frequently asked questions

  • How much do I need to pay?
We charge customers per mile. For those with a bus pass our rates are very reasonable! Our office staff & drivers can confirm current charges.
  • Who do I pay?
You will need to pay the driver on the day in cash.
  • Can I take a wheelchair?
Walking sticks & mobility aids are fine. However, we don’t normally take wheelchairs as they can be too heavy to safely lift into our driver’s cars.
  • Will the driver come into the hospital with me?
Our drivers will aim to use the
drop-off zones by hospital entrances. Please don’t rely on them to take you any further as this might not be possible.
  • Can I take someone else with me?
Yes, particularly if you might need
    some assistance at the destination.

To speak with one of our team, call us Monday to Friday between 9.30am and 11.30am

Interested in joining us?

Upton Community Care is run completely by volunteers from the local community. We are often looking for more volunteers, especially drivers*, so if you have some time to spare & are interested in finding out more, please contact us.
